Blah Akatarawa forest (Wellington Region) - Videos

    Hi guys and girls,

Been a while since I've checked in here, but I thought I would share some videos of my latest exploits.

I've been doing a bit of riding in the Akatarawa Forest, which is basically all the reserve land between Paraparaumu (Kapiti Coast) and Upper Hutt (Wellington)

This one is quite long (14 minutes), it starts at Orange Hut and I make my way up to Hydro, via the south side of the valley.
Some quite tight twisty trail, and loads of slippery mud and clay.
    Loads of fun!

This was actually my first pass on same trail as above, but I cam across 4 guys on quads, and one of them almost loses his quad in a massive trench full of water.

    Enjoy!

    Cheers for the vids man!

Would love to get in there next time I'm passing through. Have heard from a few 4x4 buddies its a great run as there are fark all rocks to worry about, just trees and clay.

depends where you go, it can be pretty rocky in places, and slippery as balls on others.

No - we came in from Kapiti. Whareroa Farm, Cambells Mill rd and down the Hydro Road. Returned the same way. Hydro road is depressingly steep on a mountain bike... The rivers were really high so it was still a good decision as Norms crossing would not have been much fun...

oh yeah, same side as me.
Norms Crossing wasnt that bad, not as bad as the 1st of the 2 crossings before it.

That said, i had 250cc to get me through the water... hahaha
