Howya, newbie here (strangely enough) (dadude)

Just moved to your beautiful country in October last year. I'm originally from Germany but spent the last 20+ years in Scotland, Oz and Ireland - in that order, kinda. So, yes - you've got another old sack on your site now

My last bike was a ZZR 1200 which ,unfortunately, was written off earlier last year - else I would have shipped her down here, cause I loved that bike. Did some great tours around Europe on the old girl (with the other old girl on the back )

Am currently looking into getting a ride again in the next few months. My first choice was originally the new big sister of my old dear, the ZZR 1400. At this stage I'm kinda over that since I figured it'd be an absolute waste - partially thanks to the rather anti-climactic 100 km/h speed limits around here (I'm German, after all) but even more so because of your very keen cops and their OCD-style attention to speeding. Kinda takes all the fun out of having a 300 km/h bike.

Then again, after experiencing some of the roads around here, I came to the conclusion that I will go for a 'dual purpose bike' as it seems to be called here and the most likely candidate at this stage is the V-Strom 1000. I had a demo one a few days ago and I was positively impressed with the ugly duckling. The trusty old Super Tenere is still an option at this stage as well. And before anyone chimes in with the GS - that one has never been in contention - I won't pay an extra 10+k for a badge - even if I could afford it (or maybe I would, if I could but I can't, so there!)

Anyway, that's all for now - please call again!

Full budget disclosure required before we can decide what bike you require.

It is a good time to buy while the weather isn't perfect.

Budget disclosure? Hmm...ok, then. I am actually thinking of buying a brand spanking new one or a nearly new one (i.e. a demo) and I wanna keep it under 20k. The V Strom comes in at $18,995 list price where as the ST is around $20k (up to $25k actually if you want the electronic suspension, which I can perfectly do without). There's bound to be some wiggle room on both of them if I pay cash (i.e. get a loan elsewhere) so both are just within budget.

    Hope that helps.

Also, here's one I had an eye on - few months old with next to no mileage at $2.5k below list price

West coast is definitely on the list. Brought all my gear over from Europe, including wet weather gear, so should be sorted on that end.

Ah, welche Stadt in Deutschland?

Ignore those new dual purpose bikes. What you really want is an '05 Z1000. Only $4999.99 with a 1000km warranty! But wait, there's more! Buy now and I'll throw in a couple months rego and a new WoF!

I know right! Such a bargain!

Unfortunately I wouldn't consider the Z1000 suitable for 2-up touring with the little 'emergency seat' for the pillion. Thanks for the offer though.

MUST admit the Bennelli is a good looking bike.

Ok, it's all too late. Bought the new toy yesterday. Trevor Pierce (or rather his wife Rachel) made me an offer I couldn't refuse. So yesterday arvo I bought a brand spanking new Super Tenere Pix below. Took her out for a spin today (of course I had a test ride before I bought her) and she's just amazingly amazing.
