If I am not mistaken more (civilian) Japanese died from being incinerated when purposely bombed with incendiaries as was Dresden in Germany (Civilians were the targets)

Correct. One B-29 incendiary raid killed more than the number who died from one nuclear blast. There were quite a few firestorm raids too, as they did far more damage in Japan's wooden buildings than what high explosive bombs did.
There is a very interesting vid on ewechoob that was prepared during WW2, showing all the planning stages for a B-29 raid. Escort "mother ships", designated ditching locations and rescue aircraft, fighter escorts and their navigational mother-ships, making up a very complex ballet in the air.

China worked out the Hearts and Minds a while back, don't they make larger contributions to small countries for a bit of support with voting and stuff.

Remember that Mao's "Little red book" advocates a "death by a thousand cuts" and does not wish war. You can conquer an enemy by whittling away at him and the economic approach is the favoured option.
A reversal of this is what is being used in Ukraine, btw...


I also laugh at the recent military parade in China where the "peaceful intentions" of China was espoused by the loony leader. Cutting military personnel by 300,000?
There are two reasons to do this. First is the unpopular compulsory military duty. Second is the move to a professional military of volunteers, rather than peasant compulsory draftees.
China has wanted to be more western with choices, consumerism and freedoms of individuals (voting, where to live, what to own, etc). The "economic freedoms" and progressions stemming from the '80's has now come back to bite the communist leaders in the arse.

Without Googling it I'd imagine the Americans were supplying Chaing Kai-Shek and the Russian ( and/or the Americans) were supplying Mao and his Commies.

What's next, China demanding Taiwan which was part of the old China back?
