I had thought of the footage you could get along somewhere like the west coastline could be interesting. Flying one around an urban area would be a receipe for disaster. Like many toys, after 6 months and a few crashes, it would probably end up on a shelf in the garage unless you had a specific purpose for one.

Unfortunately it's the dickhead minority who are responsible for causing the draconian rules.

Just typed in "shooting down drones" on you tube, returned 18,900 results.I presume most would be about military type drones.
Here's a drone clip for all you perverts.

I have been flying and filming with multirotors for a few years now. I currently have two Dji phantoms with gopros and gimbals and was just about to buy the latest model when the CAA NZ came out with with it's latest rules, which are just about the strictest in the free world.
You cannot now legally fly over public property, private property, at night, out of sight, without permission, yada yada yada. A total knee jerk, power Nazi, over reaction to a minuscule problem here in NZ.
If you are still interested despite all the 'legislate and fuck em' bollocks above, it is a great little hobby and a couple of hundred $ will get you something simple and robust to practice with.
My personal favourite is the DJI Phantom3 advanced, amazing technology but easy to fly. None of these 'drones' are fool proof however, if you're keen, research online owners groups for all the info you'll ever need.
Cheers
Oh bugger
