If you are a learner which bike represents better value. Yours or the one above.

New r3, new cbr300, new z300 or a long list of sub 2 year old bikes are your competition. Going to be difficult.

I have a rare trailer for sale. Struggling to get a dollar bid on it though.
I'd say for people with a budget yeah sure go for those bikes. For people looking for quality parts on a bike which is sufficient for nz riding even on a full licence for many many years go for this cause that was the case for me.

Refer line one of my previous post. Your market don't know much. Why is a newer cb500f worth less to them than your bike.

Different story all together. you said so yourself not as popular
One bike was a IOM race winner over and over again right up until it was 10-15 years old.
One was based on a factory superbike racer and styled directly after it.
Look at the number imported as grey bikes into the UK and NZ and Aussie.
Best of luck the CB's are not bad bikes at all, but they are not NC30's.

Note the VFR400 actually cost more when it was released than a new VFR750 did.

Just being uncommon doesn’t contribute to value. I could build you a one-off, one-of-a-kind bike in my garage this weekend, but I guarantee you wouldn’t want to ride it, let alone pay good money for it.

Your bike is a minor variation of a common bike.

Well thanks for putting it that way. I'd say its just a rare opportunity for learners to find this bike in nz thats what i meant about 'rarity' or uncommon. Thats all.

You should have snapped that $6500 up. That money is likely going onto a different bike now. I notice it hadn't even got it within 15% of reserve.

Makes me feel like I got a bargain on my 900!

OP, what'd you do to get the engine & frame so clean and shiny?

Well first I religiously wash the bike every week on a nice day (takes around 1-2 hours detail cleaning including a polish after)
Secondly I never let any gunk build up have its chance. Degreaser it up then polish! Only wash it when the bike is cold of course.
WD-40 all the moving compartments ( Chain is cleaned with kerosene (no harm on the x,o-rings)
Hot engines sure won't like chemicals like em.
Chain clean is a must and lubed after and left to seat overnight.

What products do you use for wash/polish/on the engine?

You've probably heard of Motomuck? buy some/use it. I didn't know about it when I had the CB.
