Boots, which ones are worth my look?

I'm on the hunt for boots (which is WELL overdue) which brands/models should I be looking?
Since I will prob only be able to afford 1 pair & I ride almost everyday all year round my requirements would be as follows

    Waterproof (I hate wet feet)
    Warm
Comfortable (It's not uncommon for me to spend half a day walking round in bike boots on occasion)
    Hard wearing/long lasting
    Affordable
Decent width (I got wide feet, apparently a side-effect of running round barefoot & butt naked )
I guess they're the main ones & I ride a 80's Sports Tourer if that makes any difference.

What brands should I be looking? What do people have & love? What do people have & hate?

For Touring I have BMW Santiagos and also Sidi Canyons ,both Gore-tex and very comfy. Both are at the top end of the market. There are lighter road boots on the market but I find the ones with Gore-tex liners not as hot in summer.
TCX and Forma are good boots as well, keep a eye on Trade Me as there are some good buys some times near new when People order wrong size from overseas.

I am on my second pair of these Alpinestars. Just had them resoled.

First pair just wore out from everyday use, in the end the velcro died. Got the same pair again but they had been upgraded and were somewhat thicker, didn't like them at first but they do the job for all day comfort, keep your feet dry and you don't look a gimp when walking in them.

Depending on your bike (brmm brmm doesn't give much), I'd suggest more of an adventure boot shape (ie a classic L shape) over a sport boot which is pre-curved (and hard to stand upright in).

I'm wearing a pair of A* Roam for work, and I use them every day, all day, and they've handled probably 2 years (bought mid 2012) but this winter they're no longer waterproof... A strip of velcro has been replaced on both boots, as it wore out and wouldn't stick, early this year.

Oh, adventure boots are good waterproof wise as they get tested in rivers

These boots are the only ones ive ever owned that actually work as stated and the bonus at being comfy to walk around in.
If anything they could be a bit taller.

That's one of my problems, the right foot seems to be ever so slightly wider than the left

I seen Forma the other day & was wondering about them as they're not too badly priced, TCX I had never heard of until today

I did mention "80's sports tourer" too (it's a VFR700F)... I probably don't want to go too stiff as me bike still doesn't put me in an upright position, not as crouched as sports but not as upright as modern sports tourers

Yeah this. Bought a pair of Astars web goretex boots, I thought my left foot must have been swolen the boot was so tight. Dont get that with other shoes /boots.

Stay away from TCX imo. I've just replaced a pair after deciding not to get thae soles reglued for the third time in 2 years.

That basically applies to all kiwis.

The Sidi Canyon Gore Tex would fit most of your requirements but the catch is a fiddly bloody thing. They are not cheap but then cheap and waterproof are not usually going to be found in the same place this side of a couple of bread bags.

An overlooked detail perhaps, but the little instruction sheet that came with my Sidi boots advises that you keep your toe nails trimmed otherwise they can poke holes in the Gore Tex lining. The Gore Tex will still be waterproof but the holes won't.

    +1 on Alpinestar gear.
The slightly extra up front cost is soon forgotten but their wear life will leave you smiling for years to come.
I have finally resigned myself to needing new ones after 3 resole jobs, and original purchase price of 650$ Aussie...in 1996

Might have to try these Alpinestars (tho I'm still finding it hard to think of them for anything other than offroad) least find out if they're even worth looking at as a couple comments make mention to them possibly being a bit tight on the width (a problem I find with most shoes)
