The ferns look like shit, and I don't like the idea of something that most of the population couldn't easily draw. If Johnny wants a fern maybe a modern, stylized easy to draw version would have been a goer (for me anyway) although I don't think it is a great representation for our country. Maybe if it gave us fern syrup...

The Koru option I don't like either. I think it is a better symbol than the fern (aware they are both concepts from the same plant) but the option put forth doesn't resonate.

As it is I will be voting to keep our current one, which without trawling through the thread (it's probably come up) I believe is our 3rd? flag anyway.
When National is in power they can fly it Blue up - when Labour is in power they can fly it Red up - I think we have been conned again!

That old two party buddy system has done it again! (Sorry Hitcher - I needed the picture to make my point - on second thoughts Edit:!)

It's something, but it isn't democracy given that the short list had already been chosen... yet somewhere along the line the mystery contender gets a bill in parliament to override the initial process. From what I read a while ago, doing such costs about $3 million a pop lol. Insanity!

And in democratic fashion the shortlist can be modified. Such a process is not a mockery.

    Only just seen this.

Seems the results of the poll reflect pretty much every other poll I have seen and heard about, and certainly the opinions of the people I've spoken to.

The government must know this, but obviously they're ignoring it.

So what are the government really up to???

Sad to see the good ones don't get railroaded thru by pressure groups.

Well I've decided I'm simply not going to take part in either referendum.

It will be my little way of saying "I couldn't give a fuck".

Seriously, there is far more important shit to be concerned about.

    TPPA anyone?

It is after all the politicians rice bowl - perhaps they are following the Israeli Mossad motto - "Make war by deception"! - I.E. "Make politics by deception"!

The deception by our politicians is distraction from more important issues!

Here is how the vote will be worded.

I'd agree that its a waste of feckin time....

there are 6 flag choices, the 4 that look the same, the one nicked of some US logo and the one we have.

Only people who are interested in having a bit of shrub as a flag or a flag showing the Red of China, pushing out the whities will bother voting..... then the 25% will carry the day.

    Ah democracy.....

But near enough to 100% of the electorate will be given the option to participate. If only 25% do so, then blame those individuals who chose not to participate ... don't blame 'democracy'.

Nah, the TPPA is important but the critical problem facing the country is whether or not to get pandas.
