Sunshine Coast as a holiday venue?

Did 9 nights in Gold Coast a couple of years ago. Looking at Sunshine Coast for next year's escape from winter (end of June probably). Probably stay 7 to 9 nights depending on activities.
Comments please ... recommended areas to stay to be handy to whatever is important ... and recommended activities. Cheers!

Made the mistake of trying to drive up the Sunshine Coast on Easter Sunday last year and the traffic out of Brisbane was just diabolical with the highway traffic coming to a dead halt many times all the way up past the Glass House Mountains. I know you aren't going at Easter but I'd say check what people say about traffic on any old weekend and if you can avoid driving up there except on weekdays.

As for places to stay all the beach places are nice from Caloundra to Noosa.

If you want a break from beaches drive to the little inland town of Maleny - seemed to be a place bikers hung out for lunch.

Or, if you are flying in to Coolangatta, & aren't fixated by the S-Coast & BS Goldie 'World' theme parks.. turn south instead..
..you could even visit "Hippie World" - Nimbin, & really blow your mind..
