Announce CBR1000RR (2014) tail tidy & integrated light

Just finished installing the R&G tail tidy and Custom LED Blaster-X Integrated tail light.

I can confirm that the flasher relay modification works.

For those with the four pin flasher (hazard function), removing the third pin from the IC and sealing the unit back up disables the blown bulb fast flash.

Not sure on the legalities surrounding the integrated tail light. I believe I read somewhere, that on modified bikes the indicators had to be as far apart as practical.

Hey, have you had much trouble getting a WOF with that tail light? i'm considering doing the same mod on my CBR600RR but i read that the indicators need to be a minimum of 400mm apart so it's putting me off.

I installed a similar integrated tail light on my Speed Triple and have passed multiple warrants so far with no mention about the indicators or a minimum amount of seperation.

And so I failed the WoF on the weekend due to the integrated rear light. VTNZ station, apparently a clarification of the rules recently means I need to revert to the previous set up as they will no longer pass the integrated light. Bugger.

Did you ask to see the applicable revision? I chucked one on last week and could only find a guide for angle visibility when trying to work out if it was actually legal.

I didn't push it, decided it wasn't worth the effort so just headed home and reverted back to the previous setup.

They had a similar integrated light come through a couple of weeks beforehand for which they requested a technical ruling from LTSA (or whoever the appropriate authority is) and the word they received back was that an integrated light wasn't up to spec.

Sweet as. Cheers for the reply. Easy enough to whack it back on I guess but if you get failed on something they have to show you supporting evidence if you ask for it.
It's not being antsy to request it if you're unsure, or worse, they're unsure. It's how the system works =)

I don't need a WOF till Feb but if something has changed, and it's specific, I'd rather not find out about it from the fuzz beforehand.

So are they going to fail factory Harleys that have brake and indicators lights combined? Nah.
