...I think that the Pumas may be ranked #No 2 in the world at the end of this...it would be fantastic for the game and something I have said for some years...give them enough 'big game' time and they will advance...

They looked really good. Seemed to be able to put their wings into space better than many teams there.

Reading an article about the Springbok/AB rivalry on the Guardian sports page. Interesting comment about John Key which is typical.

The winter of 1981 was a watershed in New Zealand’s modern history. It was a split, says the historian Jock Phillips, between “old and new New Zealand”, and it divided towns, teams, friendships, even families. The full-back Allan Hewson kicked the goal that won the third Test and the series for the All Blacks, only his wife wasn’t there to see it, because she had boycotted all the games. The dividing line is still there, and New Zealand’s current prime minister, John Key, loth to alienate any potential voters, insists that he isn’t able to remember where he was, or which side he was on during 1981.

34 years ago John Key would have been in America learning to become a wealthy man - he probably wasn't even aware of the Springbok tour of NZ!

Probably didn't even play the game at school - why would he remember?

Nah. He was in his first post Uni job as an auditor for the company which is now part of Delloites. Counting other people's money at that stage.

As you say though ... he didn't follow rugby so perhaps he didn't have an opinion.

...It was a big thing worldwide, I was in the UK then and it was big on the news over there...he would have to have been in a coma to not remember or be aware of some of the biggest shit to hit NZ for many years...he's just a gutless, wimp, liar...but then again, we know that...oops, mixing sport with politics, sorry...

Horses for courses - John Key was good at that job - (respect!) - does not automatically make him suitable for prime minister or anything else for that matter!

Men shall be remembered for what they do rather than what they say - he (John Key) did say he would reverse the immigration trends during his term of office!

Listening to radio (whilst travelling) the other day I think they were trying to say that that has happened - should John Key take a bow?

There is a real great john key quote from back then about how well he was doing.
I don't know if I will be able to find it. but when he was asked what he felt about I think corporate raiders destroying companies his reply was along the lines of, well i'm I am doing great out of it.

Or, like me now, he didn't give a fuck. (but he can't really admit to that can he?)

Naholo, Messam and Slade seem to have dropped way off the radar to date. Has Slade even started a game yet?
