Why do people make such a song and dance about playing France? 2007 was a hundred years ago,

Anyway, we beat France twice that year, 42-11 and 61-10.

Since 87 we have played them 31 times they have only won 7 of them. So you would think we should win 80% of our matches against them.
Yet we have played them four times in world cups the only time we have beaten them was 87 and 2011(when we were at home) they beat us in 1999 in England as well as 2007
So that's only a 50% win record against France at World Cups.
When that's translated to neutral venues they beat us 2-1
Conversely our record vs the Aussies and South Africa our win record is 50% when playing them at World Cups.
Contrast that with Ireland that has never beaten us ever in a hundred or so years.
France is certainly a boogy team for the All blacks. No other team beats us more often when we play them in the Northern Hemisphere.

It's New Zealand that puts such store in winning the RWC and being proclaimed "World Champions" FFS! (Do we have to take ourselves so seriously?)

It's simply a four yearly rugby knock-out festival (Carnival - whatever) and should be looked upon as such - world cup winners for that year!

The All Blacks win most of their games outside of the RWC and are generally regarded or ranked as the #1 team in the world to beat = bench-mark!

We (NZ) should learn to appreciate and enjoy the RWC more - I'd like to see the cup won by teams (deservedly) that have not previously won it!

I loved seeing the faces of the Irish fans this morning. They were simply enjoying watching and supporting their team.

Their team that was winning rather than being beaten by the French?

While we are in England and between games, current sports topic seems to be Cairn's trial. This chap could go to jail if found guilty of perjury. What do you think of the whole matter.

If Cairns is guilty as charged he has done himself and the whole game a disservice - but of course he is still innocent until proved guilty!

Meanwhile the trial is still on.

Yup, I'll reserve my comments until after the trial. Its a shame if he is found guilty.

If he is guilty it smacks of Lance Armstrong attack and destroy being the chosen form of defence re the first suit with the bookmakers.

Anyone who plays the game of cricket should go to jail.
5 days playing that results in a "draw"?
Fuck that shit. There should be a sudden death shootout - with real deaths and a shootout, to decide who wins. A bunch of faggots wearing white, and when it gets a bit cloudy they whimp out.

    Cockmonkeys, the lot of them.

A leopard never changes its spots
    As the prosecution said he is arrogant;
He was as a kid playing junior club cricket for old collegents we he moved from Dunedin to ChCh in 1980.... couldn't get into HSOB & wasn't till strings were pulled that he was able to go to CBHS. During the years at Boys High he got everything handed to him on a platter riding the shirt tails of Lance's reputation, direct entry to all the training camps when every other poor bugger had to graft for it.
He was always a pompous arrogant prick with devious manipulative trait, had a small band of arse kissers that hung on him like lemmings & he played them at will.
I played cricket with & against him over many years and played colts rugby with him also.

Have seen a lot of that shit in rugby circles!

Not disagreeing with you at all but if Vincent could be so easily conned by Cairns (as he says he was) how do we know that the Indians are not bribing him now?

Maybe that's why he is so emotional and breaking down all the time ! - just thinking out loud here - the case is still on going!

If we are judging a book by it's cover Cairns body language surely shoots him in the foot every news clip! They look to be in deep doo doo!
