Ha when I had my CB200 the 360 was going to be the next step up - until I rode one. Heavy and slow so I shelled out some extra coin for a brand new Kawasaki Z440.

I'll be interested to see what that one goes for - they are very rare on the roads now days and it's mint aside from what is probably just stuck piston rings. Where is Cassina? half a can of CRC down each bore will fix it aye?

Side note - it's running $120 a piece mufflers. For one that clean I'd be adding some decent Conti replicas.

Side note 2 - I ran a set of those mufflers years back on a 750 twin Kawasaki (when they were $90...) they are actually a OK pipe and you can unbolt the ends to fark around with the guts and repack or modify.

And the wrong headlight mounts, footpegs, front brake lines are incorrect and the front wheel/brake is 4 bolt ( earlier) and rear looks to be 6.
Don't like the foam air cleaners either, but otherwise a nice looking bike.

I had those mufflers on a BSA Lightning years ago, Dunstall replicas? sound good but rusted quick.

That's them. Ex China. I had no issue with rust but had to replace the packing within a week - pretty sure they used old-man belly button fluff....

Beats me why people selling old bikes sell as is where is when surely a WOF is pretty easy to get and rego is like $50 a year.

Not mentioned but probably the infamous Combat engine as falls is the number range. ( although may have been rebuilt)

Clues are 1972, engine number and head to cylinder clearance gap.

Norton shaved the head to increase compression, hogged out the inlet ports and put 32 mm Amals on them.

That and low gearing along with some articles on beating Kawasaki 500's led to them being thrashed and for an engine that was designed as

a 500 with a bolt up crank it was all a bit much. I gather the bearings were a bit rigid of all this flailing around and tended to fail.

Superblend bearings which I understand have barrel shaped rollers were substituted. ( no first hand experience with these as only done

Triumphs and BMW's)

Saying that well sorted Commando is a fun ride as the isolastic rubber mounted engine/gearbox/swingarm give a very smooth vibration free

ride.

Be prepared for owner involvement and spending lots on improvements.
