It seems the Americans were a bit sus of the Earles front end & had BMW produce the R50US, which has the same tele's as used in the later /5 bikes.
I have a '66 model in my hallway, so was mildly chuffed at what the /2 just got at auction.
I've had a hard look at the pics of that 600 & the forks are in the solo position. I think it's a combo of the ridiculous seat, along with the carrier that make it look a bit off.
I removed the carrier from mine because it ruined the visual balance of the bike, which is quite fragile.
Yeah - that seat and the high carrier make it look crumpled in the middle. They need a straight top line to look decent IMO.
A mate had what I assume was an R69US at the time of his death. R69 just as you'd expect but with the same early teles as that R50.
It was known to have been imported ex the US.
Looks like a good buy.
82 GSX750 for $4700, been sitting a while.

A wire Wheel GSX750. Hmm. . . OK. Still looks good so why not? Pipes are biggest thing to let it down. And the inevitable "it's not an 1100". But why do people buy cafe racer lash ups when this is way cooler?
Don't you look at my accountant.
He's the only one I've got.
those spoked wheels are interesting, look pretty good really...more classic than the mag wheels.. they mustve come off a gs750 or summat.
i had a 750 the same colour scheme as this one, easy bike to fang and throw around

that ones an 81 EX, was annoyed when i brought my gs550 new, the 750 sitting next to it had a sold label on it otherwise i would have brought it, didn't realise they had heaps at that price....
still, i think i learnt to handle a bike better on the smaller 550 than i would have with the 750.
My 81 550 was a great bike. Rode the 750 later. Was nice but really not that much extra go to it

This is cool, would be great if I owned a shop repairing Classic European motorcycles, could be used for getting the coffees and pastries in.

One of the guys in the VCC Motorcycle Section has one and says they are a great ride, he is however usually on a 20's HD sidecar outfit.

We were touring Tassie in 2013 and found a cool motorcycle museum in a little town on the east coast. Among the exhibits was this cool stretched Norton Featherbed-framed Square 4 engine with open megaphones. The builder was the museum owner and he'd even cast new heads for it. He said it was only good for about 180 km/hr but attracted lots of attention because of its looks and sound.
