Just check out their equipment and set-up. It should be immaculately clean, everyone wearing gloves, suitable sonic or similar cleaner etc. They should be able to provide details on aftercare, bathing solutions, duration of healing etc.

IMO the experts tend to have a interesting collection of their own piercings - don't be fooled by the pretty smile and big boobs of the generic ear piercing gun wielding young lady at the chemist.

Is it safe to ask what she is getting pierced?

most councils require tattooists and piercers to be registered.

You can ask if they are up to date with that, and what, if any hygiene certification they have, but you are basically talking about shoving needles through flesh, and the after-care is every bit as important if you want to avoid infections etc.

If you are really worried test drive their services first.

Double down on that sentiment if she starts talking piercings you object to.
Far less likely to get a lip piercing if daddy has one.

Cheers BD, I'm not super worried, ive got tattoos so i just know that some places can be better than others with regard to cleanliness and skill and thought someone might have some first hand experience of that particular joint to save me travelling all the way to the murder capital of d'auckland only to find they arent up to scratch.

With regards to the double down. Other than the fact i now feel like kfc, i cant think of anything worse than a face full of metal. My limit was six (in my left ear only, cos im not a fag) in my ear and an eyebrow piercing, but i cant say i object to anything (thats above the neckline). Its the lesser of two evils in some regards as ive already said no to her having a tattoo despite numerous requests.

Fricken kids, what part of "do as i say not as i do is so hard" lol

On the other hand I took my daughter to get this. .
Not super keen on facial piercings because of the permanent scarring in places difficult to cover in job interviews.
The number of times I have been told by various hiring managers etc that facial mods are indications of a poor decision making process is rediculous and has left me very wary of mods outside the clothing area of the job you do.

Doesn't matter how old, white or ignorant they are, it matters only that they get to choose who works for them.
I know there have been times when I got a job because it was close between myself and another candidate and they had facial piercings.

Getting a job and getting ahead at a job should not have anything to with your personal choices.
But what is right and what happens are very different things.
When you have the skills, reputation or experience to set you apart from other candidates you can afford to ignore the OWCs of the world.
