I thank fuck most days that I never got on bikes when I was younger (started riding at 21 I think). If I had done some of the shit I got away with in cars on a fast bike, there would be little chance that I would be here now.

To all the people posting negatives, remember we have all been there and done that, I know I did, I was just lucky enough to get away with it. This chap wasn't so lucky.

Thoughts are with his family and those who saw him pass. What a shithouse waste of life.

    RIP dude.

And to all commenting on here:
    - We have no idea re his speed. Some peoples comment that "He was going fast" means nothing.
    - We have no idea what caused the crash. Speed? Rider error? Road? Weather? Failure of a bike part? Sun in his eyes? A combination of a few of these?
    - There are people who will miss him and who's lives will never be the same. Opinionated comments re his stupidity will not make their situation better. Whoever he was he did not deserve to die.

My sincere condolences to his family and friends.

May the bridges I burn light the way.

no idea re his speed?? The popo are not THAT friggin dumb, they've already commented 'excessive speed' and did you bother to look at the state of the signal pole?? how elsw would it have been so badly damaged apart from a considerable impact.
all the opinionated comment agree the tragedy for the ones he has left behind, but for himself?? no sorry......

Probably know him as well as you do! Yet your opinion of him is not so great. Maybe you know him better??
Difference is i have a respect for a human life regardless of how it happened.
Like i said, if he didn't rape your daughter or murder your wife, there is a good chance he isn't too bad a chap. Just made a mistake.
Let me guess, you have never made a mistake??

The thing is, there are two very obvious things here:

1: It's very sad. Sad for the friends and family he left behind. And the witnesses and people who dealt with it.
    2: He fucked up.

Because both of those things are obvious, we could have said nothing. Not even made this thread.

Or, we could respond to 1. We can say lots of "brotherhood of bikers" things about how sad it is to see another rider taken too soon. Personally, I think that's a bit pointless. The "brotherhood of bikers" thing is largely a myth, and anyone who didn't know the guy (or his friends or family) saying nice/sad things about him probably does mean well, but is saying it more for themselves.

So we're left with 2. In that case, while it's still obvious, at least it has a slight chance of maybe making the next rider think about his or her actions, in moments of red mist.

We all (me) fuck up sometimes, and many of us (me) have survived those fuck ups not because of our own skills. But that doesn't mean, with appropriate levels of respect for a fellow human, talking about this guys fuck up is a bad thing. In fact, it's about the only real use for this thread.

no. This is proof that idiots cant.

Proof that if you ride beyond your talent, your level of safety decreases drastically.

Sorry folks, but I've got to disagree with most of the posts.
I live about 1 km from the crash site and travel past the spot every day. One side of the road is a college, and the dairy is on the other. The traffic lights is where ALL the kids cross at that time of the day.
The road, and the corner are both good quality, so aren't a factor and the weather was fine and dry.

This guy was speeding, there is no way not to make the turn at anything around 50k's. I reckon you should be able to comfortable make it at 100 even, but it is a 50k area.

I've got zero sympathy for this dick, it was pure luck that he didn't collect a group of school kids - how would you feel if your kid got bowled. I would be pissed if it was one of mine.

While you have to feel for the family, there was only one person at fault here.

Hope I don't get too flamed, but a local perspective was needed here.

    Steve

When a dick walks he is a dick

when a dick drives a car he is still a dick

but when he rides a bike.....?

he is still the same f**in dick.....

he didn't expire as a result of bad luck....
