    Helmet bruising after an accident

I was talking to a friend recently, and their friend had a SMIDSY accident. It was in a 60Km/h.

The bit that caught me by surprise is they had a lot of facial bruising either side of their face where the helmet chin pads touch. I've never heard of this happening before. Perhaps it happens and I just haven't heard about it.

Have you heard of this happening? Facial bruising from the helmet?

Otherwise it must surely be that their helmet was a poor fit, and allow their head to be bashed against the inside of their helmet.

I remember getting knocked out when I had my accident, but pretty sure I didn't have any shiners. Were they using the standard cheek pads or one of the thinner ones?

They would have been using what came with the helmet. I don't know what brand of helmet they used. They were a relatively new rider, so probably didn't know about how a helmet should fit.

Not knowing how a helmet should fit probably explains it ..

I got knocked out after my accident. Rear ended by an old lady. I was stopped, she didn't.
    No shiners though.

    Arai helmet, fitted properly.

Doesnt surprise me at all. Forces in a crash are huge and can show anywhere.
