Mine is a bit rough so was cheap by price comparison alone, but I would have thought you could still pick up a decent condition one for under 4k, probably even mid 3's.
Personally I think those linked ones are priced a little high, but then again people are often surprised on here by how much more things sell for than they thought.

I just picked up a second mc17 with live rego for $900 last night, needs front wheel bearing done, and steering headset.

There's one in taranaki for $1400, so the CBR can be found for cheep if you look around.

Is there any forum or other online advertising place for these bikes beside trade me ? I am looking for one which is relatively in good condition as I don't have tool nor the place to rebuild a poor condition one

Aahh I believe this is the difference, I do, so can justify getting one in lesser condition

Those older MC17's aren't worth as much as the (comparatively) newer MC22's.

It's just timing with trademe, or getting lucky with word of mouth. Quite a few bikes are sold through Facebook too these days.

Not really, tardme seems to have a tight hold on NZ as they plunder millions off us in fees.
If you are hell bent on getting one, book a flight to Chch and arrange to check out all 3 CBR's listed here in one day; which ever one seems the best, buy it and ride it home

Happy ending without the rub n tug

And the cost of repair is what comes to mind about the 250RR or any other bike.
Been looking for a while for someone who has cbr250rr in Wellington but haven't had any luck so far

Also remember, the cbr is a 4 cylinder, it will cost the same to service as a 1000cc 4 cyl, regardless. There is also the ZZR250 {GPX250}/ GSX250 both are reasonably good looking bikes, and 'only' twins, not much slower than the CBR, and cheaper to maintain. {2cylinder} seen them both for a lot less than that CBR and with low K's.

Best that you ignore ol' Gaywolf's dumb-ask grandad.. BS 'advice'.. he doesn't have even 1/2 a bloody clue..

CBR/RRs are not directly comparable wiith shitty econo-twin learner/commuter 250s, & if you really want one, get one.. simple as..

Oil and filter every 6000km, carb clean every now and then, bit of oil down the cable sleeves every now and then and the occasional once over. The only mechanical work I've had to do on mine in just over 8000kms is oil and carb clean, the rest has been asthetics

This proves exactly my point about maintenance......

Already going past it's service interval, and according to the book, you should be doing 'something' every 4000km's.
