Saw this on tm, was thinking it could be an easy fix up, sell on project for someone. Shouldn't be too hard to pass on with summer knocking on the door

Oodles of possible causes for the symptoms described. From a blown fuse, to cam timing being out.

    It's a $500 bike at best.

I'm not interested in buying it, just thought someone on here might like it for a quick turn around. He just wants it gone so could be easy to talk down in price

    Gee that's generous.
Whoever buys it is in for a crapshoot on resolving issues. Could be 2k to get nowhere or 100 to have $1k bike.

    Sorry, I wasn't being facetious.

I think it has less value than that as is. I wouldn't part with more $1 as is. Get it going and give it a good cleanup *might* be 1k.

As the seller says "Would say it something to do with the engine." ...

With the massive backfire on trying to restart it, I agree, I would start with the timing gear ... it's unlikely to be a blown piston or a bearing .. but I wouldn't touch it for anything more than $500 either ...

Could just be from flooding it a little while trying. Last time my stator died it did that. Coughed, died, banged (back fire), started, coughed, died for good. Wasn't thinking it was an electrical problem at all with the way that happened.

But yeah, can of worms and not worth the asking price.
