I bet. Max sentence 2 × 20 years. The old boy will die inside if convicted and the judge doesn't take pity.

Owning up to "I seen 'em do wheelies at 60 miles an hour along this road, I thought he was one of them..." isn't going to look good versus his groin/ inside thigh "spider bite" reflex excuse.

Not making excuses for the driver, he's a pillock and deserves the full force of the law... but I find it interesting that no-one has recognised the fact that the rider was passing on a yellow line.

Maybe not on here but in every other discussion it's been noted, along with his incorrect license. But that still doesn't excuse the actions of the driver.

Of course... As I said, I'm not making excuses for him, and I was referring to this particular forum. I didn't know about the licence.
I don't suggest the rider should have been sideswiped, but yellow lines are put there for a reason, if a tad over enthusiastically. BTW they are completely ignored here.

That's 'cause no-one there recognises yellow lines. Dunno if they mean the same thing there as they do here but the natives pass the shit all over those lines at will.

I'm over in the states at the moment and the people I've been out with don't go near crossing the yellows. Doing 80 on the freeway? No problem, but never crossing the yellows. That's just my limited experience.

I've been up and down New England all this month, hasn't been a day yet where I haven't seen someone cross them.

But yeah, I've also passed several state troopers at over 70 on the interstate without a wasted donut.

I drove to LA from Orange County the other day, took the I405. I was told to ignore the speed limit and go with traffic, which floated around 75-85 in a 65 zone. Knew everything was cool when a cruiser passed me in the car pool lane at around 90 ha. Traffic was crazy on the way back to OC, Friday afternoon and the freeway I was doing 80 on the other day was now stop start and an average of 15mph.
