Ugh, this is still giving me a headache.

I've almost got the money so I'm trying to suss where I'll finally get these things. I can easily find aftermarket staunchions to suit a GSX1400, but they're all saying they're 46mm. The GS is 43. Where did it say they matched?

Seems to be an old website. They're now http://www.rawpowermotorcycles.co.uk/

They don't have anything listed on that site so I've flicked them an e-mail in the hopes they can help.

Good score. The question is are they genuine Suzuki ones or some product of questionable material?

Unfortunately Bandit forks are too short. Bandits are around 750mm whereas the GS is sitting over 800.

I did have USD front end that I assumed would fit when I bought the bike. But they were too short in length and too short at the steering stem. I didn't realise the GS was so damn tall. Might have to go for a Multistrada front end.

Seems like I'm going to have to wait for a second hand set to appear or go custom.

Have you thought of getting spacers made that screw into were the top caps on the forks go ? Basically just tall alloy tubes/nuts matching the stanchion diameter , was common on early MX bikes to raise there front ends.

    Bugger the spacers.

How short are the forks? I have seen custom offset upper triple clamps to account for a refit of shorter forks. The existing stem would be retained and pressed into the new tees. Won't be cheap mind ........

Use equivalent year RWU Bandit forks - or do the old girl a favour & chuck a whole USD front end at it...

    PROBLEM SOLVED

Bandit forks do work. Had to take selling the bike to my brother and him to gamble on buying a set. The stanchions are 30mm shorter, but the front wheel doesn't interfere with the headers and it handles nicely at timid speeds. The original clamps, wheel and brakes all fit perfectly.

Once it's road legal it'll get a proper stress test. So far it seems to be a good fit.

A year and a half, only a $500 fix away. Fucking depressing really. But it's fixed and my brother is stoked and I got to ride it today. Could be worse. Got a tuned 1100 motor to chuck in it next.
