Didn't VR's company pull the MM stuff after the 'incident' for a while anyway? You'd think that would break their contract, or at least entitle MM to some coin to balance it out.

I don't recall reading anything like that. As you surmise that would have an effect, but if that had happened it should have made a splash in the news.

Yeah I can't find anything either. I must have just gotten mixed up with the comments (unsourced) about not producing any more MM merch late last year. Sorry!

The news, broken by Speedweek and confirmed to MotoMatters.com by sources with knowledge of the situation, is a reversal of reports from Valencia last year. Then, Spanish websites were reporting that Valentino Rossi had decided to terminate the contract, at the end of the second year of its three year term. Those reports were denied, but now it appears that it is Marquez who has decided he does not want Rossi's VR46 business selling his merchandise. Marquez' management and VR46 are currently in negotiations to terminate the contract, with the VR46 company wanting financial compensation for Marquez' decision to terminate the contract prematurely

My interpretation is that no one really knows who has done what, and when, only that the are thrashing out who owes who what, and that VR46 will not be selling MM merchandise.
