Top 3 are the only real results that count in my mind, as that is on the podium and a fantastic result. So to me an ass kicking is 4th or lower

As a test rider he may actually have the advantage of more time in the saddle - while full time riders are more limited in the number of test days they can do.
Combined with the changes this year he could be a real threat if he wild cards a few rounds.
His ego won't have diminished any, and none of the front runners will want to be upstaged by him - so he could really put the wild back in wild-card
