Bimota DB1 for sale, just listed it on Trade Me

    Pictures at....
    http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/List...504637&ed=true

For sale is one of the holy grails of motorcycling, a very rare and desirable Bimota DB1 750, chassis number 0075.
Only 453 DB1 machines were built. Powered by the 750 Ducati belt drive SOHC 2 valve Desmo engine from the F1.
This is Italian motorcycle art at it's VERY best.

It is NZ new with it's original 1986 silver & black plate, the registration is ON HOLD. It's one of 3 DB1 machines (one of each model) sold new in '86 via Auckland Motorcycles in Ponsonby road. I am the 4th owner, last owner is a friend of mine who had it for 17 years. He kept it in a bedroom of his house. Original paint in very good condition. Has a few good mods from standard, 40mm Delortto carbs, (fully sorted) 520 chain (has original 530 sprockets in box) and Ohlins rear shock (custom made for the bike, have original also). Other than those it's 100% original. It comes with a number of rare and valuable spares. The exhaust is currently standard, but it comes with a brand new, black chrome Conti kit made and sold for the DB1.
Has it's factory stand that came with it when new. Lots of paper work including it's original NZ ownership papers. Handbooks, parts book etc.. It is one of the better ones for sure. Never dropped, never raced, never abused. Has older tyres but with very good tread. Comes with spare used tyres. Has not run in a few years so it would want the timing belts replaced (they have done NO miles but I would change them anyway) and a full service, new battery, a new warrant and away you go.
The bike has done ZERO miles since all the pictures were taken as I broke my hip the day after I got it home.

I am only thinking about selling it to start a new business so it could be off the market at anytime if the I find the money elsewhere.

There is a DB1 for sale in Europe, asking 20500 Euro, that's 33000NZ, plus shipping, gst & vinning would make it over 40000NZ on the road in NZ, makes mine look too cheap!

Would consider part trade of Italian or American motorcycle to the value of 10k.

Keep the bike, sell the Ferrari (easier to get another in the future)
it's not a bad thing till you throw a KLR into the mix.

The Ferrari looks unused as well. There is sadness in your garage that can only be vanished buy starting those engines up.

I could get another F car in the future but that was the one I always wanted since I was a kid watching Magnum PI.... it is my "dream car". Model and exact spec to the letter... hard to replace.

Turned down one offer in the 20's and decided against trading a 1960's American Ford convertible!
Have had just over 1000 views in 5 days on TM and now have 80 watchers.

It's funny as part of me wants to sell so I can start my new business and another part wants it never to sell as I love the bike so much. Life is HARD!!! lol

    Regards
    Gavin

Always loved those Gavin. If I win Lotto Sat night...it's all mine!

Good luck with the sale...sexiest Bimota ever built I reckon.

I'm one of the dreamers with it on my watchlist. I skimmed the ad and I'm all like "He's dreaming - there are heaps of DB2's around and they are like $16k". Then I re-read it and asked the google.... yeah now I feel silly. Anyway, luck with the sale. I always regret not buying the Bimota KB2* I was offered back in the day.... I had the money, I looked at the bike, I heard it running, I told the guy "Have to think about it" dithered for a day and went back to the guy and he had of course sold it to someone else.
