Bloody big radial engine & no... just a back seat passenger making the most of a spur of the moment offer from Brett Emeny ( a warbirds pilot with interests in the Catalina, Vampire & Yak 52 like the one in the pics)

I think I have seen those perform at Warbirds over Omaka. If they did, they are bloody skilled pilots! You lucky bugger to be flying with them
To every man upon this earth
    Death cometh sooner or late
And how can a man die better
    Than facing fearful odds
For the ashes of his fathers
And the temples of his Gods

    Stunting

Kevin Jane, John Street & Brett Emeny are 3 Yak 52 owners in the naki I know of. There's also a couple of Vampires, an Albatros and a Delphin (all jets) based in New Plymouth and the Catalina is here at the moment for some general maintenence.
