    MotoEquip

    Hi, TonyB here.

As some of you know, MOTOequip Limited is the company my wife and I formed in August. Our intention is to import motorcycle parts, accessories and apparel and sell them direct to the public via our website www.motoequip.co.nz The website is VERY basic at the moment, I will gradually plug away at it and add 'add to cart' shopping etc, but at the moment if you want to buy something please just drop me an email or a PM and we'll sort it out from there.

We are importing TKRJ engine parts from Japan. These are high quality pistons, rings, conrods, valves, bearings, timing gears, camshafts, cylinders and crank pins. They are all made in Japan and the quality is fantastic. The first order will hopefully arrive in the country before October 1. Prices for the parts in the initial small order are listed on our parts page I'm hoping the bucket racing crowd is going to appreciate these prices TKRJ make a lot more than what I have listed- full details will be available in the next few weeks.

I'm looking to develop pistons for the RG150 and the Honda RS125, I need an idea of numbers, so please PM or email us re this.

We also have the option of picking up an American piston manufacturer. Can't name any names yet, but they are involved in F1, KART, Indy Car, NHRA etc etc. Their pistons are regarded as being the best in the business. They make a huge range of Harley stuff, as well as pistons kits for the latest 4 stroke MX bikes and kits for GSXR1000's, R1's and Hyabusa's- just incase your hyper bike is just toooooo slow... They also do custom pistons for not much more than an off-the-shelf item. I'll keep you updated on progress with these guys. We may look at doing a custom order, but I need to discuss that with them first. The 'sweet spot' for pricing and airfreight is 40 piston kits.

And the other big news is that, with wildcat-lgf's (Leighton) premission, we are importing Bel leathers under our own brand name- Minotaur
A few of you know about this already. We want to try to avoid doing a custom order type scenario like Leighton did- it's very difficult to organise, so I hope you all apreciate the incredible lengths Leighton went to. Give him some rep eh?!

Our first order is well underway and should arrive early November. Bringing in leathers is a very expensive business, so to be able to offer any sort of range at all we had to limit ourselves to two styles with only one colour in each style. As time goes on and we build the company up we will be able to offer more styles. We've tried to guess the market a bit and are bringing in a two piece in black, and a very high spec racing one piece (that wasn't available to Leighton) in black and grey. The feeling we have is that a lot of riders only go for the 'power ranger' look because that is all that's available. Hope we're right.... Once we are up and running, we will be able to offer the high end suit as a true 'Tailor made' or bespoke service. This will obviously be more expensive. As yet I can't show pics or give accurate pricing. Stay posted for these. We will also be bringing in gloves and back protectors.

So there you go. MOTOequip Limited is officially operational. MrsB and I are not by any means wealthy. We've taken a big risk, extended the mortgage and added some more stress to our lives to make this work. And boy do I hope it works.... I hope the KB community will see this for what it is- a couple of average people trying to make a go of it doing something they love (well, I love and MrsB tolerates), and in the process offering you some great quality kit at very good prices.

KerryG started a thread the other day about the cost of parts, this is exactly what prompted us to start the business. For whatever reason, some parts have always been incredibly expensive. It drives me nuts to see or hear about people who can't afford leathers. Not to mention bikers (especially racers) who have had to park their bike up for a while till they can afford to fix it. In our own quiet way we are trying to fix that little problem. Now it's up to the NZ biking public to see if we can make it work.

Not as yet- but it's something we're looking into, as sooner or later the WOF test will include a disc thickness test. Heaps of older bikes will need new ones.

In the meantime I know that Cycletreads here in Chch have brake disc's at what seem like a very sharp price. Maybe give your local shop a go.

    Sorry I can't help more.

To every man upon this earth
    Death cometh sooner or late
And how can a man die better
    Than facing fearful odds
For the ashes of his fathers
And the temples of his Gods

    Amen to that!

Site looks fairly good so far. Good job and good luck

BTW, try to get hold of some streetfighter stuff (top yoke MX bar conversion kits for example ). There isn't anywhere in New Zealand (from what I can see) that specialises in that sorta stuff so might be a good idea to look into getting some of that stuff in stock

Yah man, get the RG stuff. I'll have one soonish, and always be on the lookout to help someone and score some parts while I'm at it!

    Looks good Tony.

No wonder TKRJ wouldn't get back to me about my orders.

Hope it all works out for you. Your in a better poistion than I to make it work, and the bikeing communty needs it.

I'll direct a lot of my piston kit contacts to your site.

    Hi Racey,
Damn. I sent you a PM just before reading this, and another one after. I was really hoping that you had a different supplier. Sorry.
Thanks for the kind gesture, I really appreciate it. If I can do anything to help you out in the future, just ask and I'll see you right

Thanks to those that have PM'ed or posted.

Thanks SBF. And thanks to those that have PM'ed or emailed. I'm starting to sound like a stuck record, but it does mean a lot.

Located in the mean streets of Woolston!! Awesome. I went to Uni in Chch by the way, had a flatty who hailed from Woolston, he was high quality. It's a high quality place Chch, I could totally go back, especially for a $100 piston kit.
