Considering cremains are generally coarse (unless ground for scattering, and even then they don't look a hell of a lot like coke) the guys must have been total idiots. I'd guess they've never actually seen or used coke before but thought they'd "give it a go" when they thought they'd found the home-owner's stash.

Edit: First time I tried snorting coke I got one of the ice cubes stuck up my nose...
