Your secret lust for a cruiser just made its Freudian slip.

Yeah, he'll probably sue and get $80,000.

security cables. it wont stop a thief with a big chain cutter but how many carry those? just wire the pc/monitor/ xbox/dvd to its stand. just makes it too much hassle for em. or get student flatmates (they stay up all night in the front room playing computer games).

A simple security measure is to zip tie the cables of your TV, VCR, DVD, Home Theatre etc etc together into a bunch, even better is to use a cheap pad-lock to do the same. It just makes it that little bit harder to get away with the loot and the might just give up and move on to an easier target.

You've maybe read the rest of this thread Spud, so what you you suggest for a victim who lives alone, knows exactly where the gear went and is too scared to do anything about in any in shape or form whatsoever in case of "reprisals".

If you are certain you know where the stuff is then talk to the police about it. We get information all the time about stolen goods, if the info is reliable enough we'll get a search warrant. If you are too scared to follow up in this manner then just kiss your stuff goodbye and wait around to get ripped off again.

It ain't actually me.... personally i'm a dumb f**k, i would've skipped the cops, gone round with a few heavies like k14, and made sure the idea of knicking my stuff gave them the raging shits for years to come. Others opinions differ, but i'd rather not bother the cops and have these guys go through our so-called justice system.

But i agree. Thats what i told my mate - don't let them get off scott free. Up to them to decfide now. But i'll be there if they need support.

    Thanks SD for the PM's!!!!!

    ...

Actually i'm just spouting here, feel free to disagree, it'd be the first thread without a disagreement if you didn't, but i reckon it's BULLSHIT people have to worry so much about securing their posessions.

It's BULLSHIT that EVERYBODY i know has had their residence broken into - some more than once and some places were trashed not just entered (and pillaged).

It's BULLSHIT that the cops in ChCh can't get anywhere near keeping up with break-ins. Now you just call the station and they make it all good with your insurance company.

It's BULLSHIT that on the rare occassions these assholes are caught, the justice system slaps them with a wet bus ticket, and at the same time makes it so hard to defend yourself in your own place with any degree of real force without you being nailed as well.

And because its my post and i can generalise, it's not the fulla working next to me that will be robbing my house. It's the dole bludger p addict that will walk off with my hard earned DVD player and then collecting his / her income paid for by us law abiding tax payers.... a real nice double whammy eh...PRICKS.

They arent dole bludgers anymore, they are sickness beneficiaries. I kid you not, it is a rare occassion to pull over a driver who is on the dole. I have however arrested a shit load of sickness beneficiaries. They cant work but bugger me they are good at climbing through windows and running from the police.

Go the labour government, no wonder un-employment stats are so low.
