Honda VT250 road bike help wanted

    Hey everyone,

FIrst i wanna say how awesome it is to be part of Kiwibikers website, i never knew about this place till recently.

Been a new member please let me know if i have put this thread in the wrong place, however im needing some help with my Honda VT250.

I got this bike in a trade about a week ago, it had a few issues but managed to get it going but thats the least of my troubles.

This bike did not come with a plate or most of its parts really, its a project im looking forward to working on however I DONT KNOW WHAT MODEL IT IS

I can see the VIN numbers on the neck of the frame but it is not many, i have worked out it is a VT250 but thats as far as i got, the numbers are only about 8 digits, "MC15-1.004678"

I know MC15 which is how i figured out it is a VT250 but thats all, i can not find anywhere or anyone to help me with this, Does anyone have any advice on what to do or where the vin number could be if this is not it? I have no clue what the model or year is and it would be great to find out so i can get parts ordered that i will require. Im not 100% sure how and if i can post a picture yet been a new member but any help would be great, will/would send photo when I know how

    Thanks in advance!!
    Dan

Have a look here for some more specs
    https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honda_VTR250

Mc15 is the correct model, they tend to use shorter model codes on the old hondas

Mc14/17/19/22 for example is the cbr250r/rr
    Mc18/21 is the nsr250 etc

according to that site, the MC 15 is an 85-86 special edition (interceptor)

There is probably about 15 models at least over the production run that also confusingly use the same model letter codes
