Transporting a bike - How best to do this?

I know this conflicts with your preconceptions, but my '01 H-D FXDXT, bought early '03 with 41 kms on the clock, is now on 144,000k - and yeah, about 80 km of that on a trailer to get a NZ VIN when I brought her back home. Would have had higher k's but, got five other bikes to ride... Been coast to coast and back again in the US on an '04 Vrod, plus detours; try it sometime, and on a Harley. You're never far away from a dealer. (And all I needed a dealer for on that trip was a new front tyre (in Helena, ND) and a replacement highway peg (in Tempe, AZ).
