Sooo, does it live up to the hype (Star Wars: The Force Awakens)?

We're off to see it tomorrow night (unlike some hard core geeks - and we know a few) Balu didn't feel he could "be sick" and take the day off in order to go to the midnight screening.
How many here went to the midnight opening, who went in costume (and more importantly - pix???)
I lahk to moove eet moove eet...

    Dumbledore dies.

    *spoiler alert*

Looking forward to seeing it. It would be hard to fuck up a starwars film.

Is USS Enterprise in the movie

But honestly, there is nothing can be be spoiled. I already know Vader is (was) father of Luke!

Is Kylo Ren son of Luke and Rey, whom is daughter of Han Solo?

Christ! Obviously you haven't seen Episode I! (I actually enjoyed it because Liam Neeson was in it and I just forgive Episode I for "Duel of the fates" by John Williams).

If you can make it on Kiwibiker you can make it anywhere.

A nice haiku! (Better than the "there once was a paraglider named Steve" limmericks).
As for spoiler alerts, spoilers will be popping up everywhere now. Given the "alerts" already in this thread I think you'll be quite safe But just to be extra sure I'll be avoiding this thread now till after Friday night !

If you are using Google Chrome browser, search on google for "Chrome Force Block". Might help filtering browser with "Star Wars" keywords.

The sad part is - I wasn't trying to write a Haiku - and now that I look at it, you are right! it is some inspired work.

When I was at intermediate school, I won tickets to the first screening of 'Star Wars'. I had to dial (ask your mum) up the radio station and be caller number X.

The theater had put in a surround sound system (new in NZ) just for the movie.

    Shit it was impressive.

All movies since have not lived up to the original experience way back in 19 something something........

I'll see this one. But the tech is now expected and common place (last new thing was 3D that has not taken off) so expectations are very high for visuals. So unless the story line is exceptional it will only be average.

Talking of story lines the original was pretty lame in retrospect - nothing new, bit of a fairy tale really. HOWEVER the visual impact of the imagery was very fresh and the 'ride' exciting.

I struggle to get a similar buzz from movies now days.

Was that the one with Remuera Morrisson in it?, I took the kids and fell asleep.

I read the book on the school bus from Silverdale to Takapuna, pretty light on story compared to the School stuff like Mcbeth... actually probably the same story

I remember the original playing at the Cinerama in Queen St and being 1977 and being punk...or new wave...can't remember and all not going to see it.
DeMyer's Laws - an argument that consists primarily of rambling quotes isn't worth bothering with.

1977? Jesus wept I don't think I'd even had a wank then! No wonder the sight of the Princess in that bra/top gave me a stiffy (Stiffy is period correct talk for a hard-on, hard-on being later talk for a boner .....)
