Oh I don't know - i find it charmingly naive....in a crap sort of way. Bet that pipe works well.

Looking back through the thread (how did i miss it ?) some stand out...

Fiat multipla - Some many years back i went to look at an FIA head for a datsun 1600ss ( think RC30 kit level of rarity) and there in the workshop was a multipla being built for OSCA racing with a mid mounted Ford V6, full space frame and single seater suspension...It hadn't been worked on for several years at that point and it's probably still sitting there.

Skoda 100s - they make superb small capacity rally cars done right. Morrie Chandler was leading Leo Leonards 1200SS in a canterbury rally till the crank broke...

Husa - has anyone posted the Duzgo ? Made down the road from you by the Giles bros...

    I posted it somewhere
My father in law has Duzgo number 2 (i think) off the production line.
Its been factory refitted with a Honda V twin now used to have a 16HP kohler.
It still has the 13 speed gearbox. 3 plus 4 plus both in reverse for the 13th forward gear.

In 1979 I owned a small VW 1200 boxer engined "Mactra" truck. Most definitely a two seater only. NZ made body on a VW chassis. Very square shape and Fugly.

    I like that.
I had a 660 4WD Suzuki Carry truck and ATV tires 7 inchx12 rear 4X12 (i think )on the front.
It used to carry 2 medium squares of silage no worries.
Pretty much able to go anywhere unless you bellied it on the transfer case.
Farm rego $70 a year as long as i stayed within 50KM of home.
    They look like these

I've never seen those before, look very capable indeed.
On the farm I was working ( Awarua farm settlement, landcorp) between Invercargill and Bluff. We had a "Toyota Scout" It died in the middle of lambing and the boss hired my Mactra on a super wet spring, water just lying on the paddocks. Gave the distributor a good dose of CRC 556 before going out and it'd go anywhere, boss bellied it on a stump out on the reclaimed swamp one day. And he said, with one wheel in the air he put it in reverse and drove the bloody thing straight off. He was impressed and so was I. The side doors under the deck, It was nice and warm in there from the engine, he put cold wet lambs in there, by the time he got back to the woolshed they were warm and dry and feeling and looking heaps better. The joys of farming in southland.

I drive one a bit. Way more protection than a quad bike. Roof and radio makes your days go better when the sleet is horizontal. Has got paddle tyres on it which are great in a boggy paddock but pretty shithouse on SH1. It's cosy inside to say the least but hard to beat as a farm run around. Hardly fugly though, it's like a hi ace from twice as far.

The models with the round headlights are pretty fugly, the stub nose ones that replaced the shape i pictured were ugly.
I lost track of the number of times i hit my head climbing into it, but on a wet day Awesome.
Also great for the kids. kept them entertained and warm dry. My four year old used to steer it for me while i fed out.
I had one of those Cdit electric 40kg speaders modified with a air operated ram mounted directly on the tailgate, with a switch in the cab made a cool woosh sound.
you just bucketed from a half ton bag of urea or a heap of 40KG bags on the deck.
I even had a Scannel ground driven hydrauilic bale feeder to tow behind it.
Far faster and more convienient than a Vicon on a MF165.

The Suzuki is becoming the farm vehicle of choice here among the flat land farmers. The early ones had some oil pump problems - most unlike Suzuki.

When you look at the side by sides coming out now, they're evolving into the same thing. If Suzuki offered the late small van as a flatdeck with offroad tyres and 4wd they'd be onto a winner.

I've got the van version of that. Makes me feel like a fuckin giant Would be way cooler if the vans were 4x4 too. Le sigh.

I'd like to submit the Suzuki "Swift".
    Reason #1: It isn't.
Reason #2: The driver seems to like infesting the "fast" lane with his/her "notveryswift".
Reason #3: It resembles a pregnant rollerskate which has been rear-ended and then fettled with a large angle grinder.
