Chain breaker - beg borrow or steal

    Hello all,
Any chance any one has a chain breaker / presser I can beg, borrow or steal?

Chain is a little more shagged than I thought and I don't have the money to buy a chain and breaker in time to get the job done before I need to be back at work.

Needs to be able to do a 520 chain.

happy enough to angle grind it off if I have to but if a precision tool is available that would be super.

I have been known to get a little enthusiastic with the angle grinder before. :, (

I have a cheap one that you're welcome to borrow. One of the pins is broken but it still works for joining the new chain. Come to think if it I think I rigged a new "pin" that does the job (been a while since I used it).

Send me a PM and we'll arrange a pickup/drop off. Whichever works. Should be close seeing as how we're both in Tuakau.

    Lol, that's usually me.
In my neighbourhood I am the only one uses power tools after beer o'clock. probably because I don't drink very often. Beer o'clock is proportional the number of days in the working week.
    5 day week = 5 pm.
    4 day week = 10 am.
3 day week = they are still drinking and singing from the day before.

Thank you for the offer... I panic bought one when the shop offered a discount with the chain etc.

Being my only way to get to work and the budget is already out the window... we will see if my wife is a widow when she finds out.

    Is your bike mobile?
I'll be doing my chain one night week or this weekend (assuming parts arrive on schedule), you are welcome to come down to Tuakau and do yours while I already have tools out.

If your bike is not mobile, next week I should be able to lend you a set but you will need to pick up drop off to Mt Eden.

Any beer will do... prefer beer to pilsner though.
I don't drink enough to get fussy.

Stopped drinking when I realised it was cutting in to my riding money... priorities.

You don't need one, angle grinder, even a dremel will do to grind 2 pins flat to allow the link to be hit through, then a ball pein hammer to carefully stake over the new join link.
