Help! I need to borrow a C spanner in Nelson

I have recently purchased a honda ST1100 and rode up from chch to nelson with my girlfriend for the weekend. I didnt even think about checking the preload on the springs. They are set on the second softest and bottomed out a few times on the way up and was to say the least at but unsettling. I was going to borrow one from a friends dad and just went around to use it and it doesn fit..... The tooth is too large. So nothing is open, nothing will be open tomorrow and we need to get back to chch tomorrow. So my question is does someone in nelson have a c spanner I can at least try and see if it fits. Any help would be much much appreciated.

Absolute worst case ......... and I am loath to suggest it ......... careful use of a flat screwdriver and whacking device to hit said screwdriver can move the collar provided it is a threaded one.

If it is one of those ones that 'step' against a little stop the above will not work.

I think you should take it as a sign to take Tuesday off work and come home after the bike shops are open.

yea it has the little steps on the preload. I wish that coming back tuesday was a valid option lol. Unfortunately my boss is well.... a boss

Bugger. Got a main stand? If so you just may be able to twist it with a gloved hand if on the mainstand and someone pushing on the bars so the rear wheel is off the ground. Provided you can get a hand in there ..... most single shockers have restricted access.

If worst comes to worst, stick a stabd of some sort, or a jack under it, and wind the adjuster around with a pipe wrench
