    Weather for Paeroa?

Looking at the long range Met Service forecast for next weekend it looks like there could be showers on race day which would be a real bummer considering 25th anniversary and all that. Also the Cyclone heading this way is not the best news.Lets all hope for nice weather and not a repeat of last year-would the organisers change the date if need be?

From what i have been told there is a plan in place this year incase of rain which will allow the race to go ahead however it won't be needed as it will be as hot as ever

Paeroa is the only race I don't take my wets to. If it rains I pack up and go home. Screw that.

We nearly slipped over walking to Mc Donald's for breakfast last year on the wet road.
What possible plan could make it an all weather circuit? I'm sceptical, but prepared to learn, and pack up & head home also.

i asked them years ago when they were out all night sandblasting the paint from the track in the rain why they don't turn right at the kink in the back straight, slow that down and onto the front striaght, slow that beast down. Tehy wouldn't as the hairpin pub was a main sponsor. Interesting, it was either have one sponsor not excited, by an act of god, or stop the whole thing and they said they'd rather do that.

problem is the fact it's a main road and all the exhaust fumes, deisel etc adhere to the road, when it's wet it floats to the surface and will cause mayhem...
it used to be at the overhead bridge on the cemetery circuit that the towns bus depot was there, during one day there were abot 150 bus movements in and out of there, 30meters from the apex, every bus would drop a drop of oile and/of deisle so it was greasier than a butchers prick when wet, it's a bit different now of course.

and wanganui except when barriers are floating down the track. it's about terminal speed and run off on the fast corners, a different beast totally.

Any of you lot been to Dunedin when they're burning the rubber and oil off the motorways ? There's not a lot of level motorway there (pretty much none...) so when it freezes the roads get bloody slippery. In the summer, they drag a steel frame which is one lane wide and about 2 meters long behind a truck - with a fire burning on the road surface. Smoky as fuck but it leaves a very grippy surface. Very open and porous to look at.
