French Pom on top before Qualifying starts today. Yamaha !!!!!

You'd never go hungry with Nigella Gaz.

If only he would translate that to race pace. To me, he always seems relaxed and not always willing to take too many risks. I can say that as I am sitting here on my bum and he is a World Champion...

In the preview programme the popular pick for champ seemed to be Rea, Sykes, or Davies. All, of course, based on last year's form which may mean now't this year.

    Or not.

After my disastrous performance in the MCN fantasy teams comp I have given up predicting championships for now. But it all kicks off in about an hour...

Sensible money would go for Rea. The man is a class act. A bonus would be watching Sykes head explode as Rea runs away with the championship.

If that is an indication of how the season will go, we may be in for a good year.

So many seemed to keep saying it was time Nicky left MotoGP for WSBK. Does anyone think he is going to get any faster than he did in race 1? Just asking.

15 seconds from the front. Must be the closest to the pointy end he has seen for a while. WSBK may be a little like a retirement home for Motogp riders but it does produce a second lease of life for some.

6 makes in the top 8 for race 1. Long may it be that way.

That idea appeals to me Dadpole, that Sykes swagger was hiding flames I reckon, after race one ?

That haircut might be holding him back Merv ? I was surprised at the beginning of race one how far he was towards the front. He's in the top ten but that's his best I feel.
Dutch boy tho , wow ! Honda has a good one there.

Yeah, he is regarded as a top talent but both he and Hayden are on an outclassed bike. The Honda is years past its use by date. Phillip Island allows a fast rider to hide deficiencies in a bike, it'll be interesting to see if the Hondas can be that close at other tracks.

Here's hoping that the long awaited V4 actually materialises before next year and at a price that permits sales at homologation levels.

Meantime we have another race this afternoon.

If Rea runs away from Sykes in race 2, I expect the atmosphere in the garage will be a tad frosty.

It will be interesting to see how the Yamaha goes on other tracks. ( I don't hold out much hope for the current Honda)

But funny how Van der Mark recorded the highest trap speed for the whole race at 316km/hr on the slug

Because he was getting towed down the main straight by Rea, Davies and Giuliano at the time?

I was gutted for Hayden... podium dangling like a carrot.

Rea and Davies look like the big dogs.

Giuliani looked much more clean and composed until he punted Sykes........
