Really? Probably no reason why not as they would be replaced often.

Resurfacing out this way has ended up using a mixture of flour and water then pouring some gravel on top. Road that was completely dug up and redone before xmas has just had a new surface covering (so lasted 3 months) and in 2 days there is a couple of smooth tracks where wheels have been. Dangerous on the bike.....

And as for a "Why", why are indicators Amber and not green or blue ??? Could google it but more fun hearing the theories....

technically more visible, also differentiates from any other vehicle lighting. Blue flashing lights are illegal (reserved for police), green.... Im guessing the visibility thing. green wavelength probably not easily distinguished in driving conditions.

A rhetorical 'Why', and I already know the answer.

I had to pick something up from a moneyed up, high value area of the city yesterday. A quarter of a mile away, peoples houses and lives are still fucked from the big event of five years ago, the shocks on the bike were being pummeled by what some Afghanis may call a road but is really not much more than a MX track bounded by war torn buildings, yet a right turn into a knob area and it looks like nothing ever happened to disrupt their lives and that council workers come and polish the road daily with a toothbrush and possibly wipe their arse for the residents also.

    I wonder why?

When 80% of your rates comes from 20% of the population - it pays to keep the 20% happy (or there abouts)

Bullshit. In the areas concerned, the property values were so bloody high that EQC simply said straight off that they'd be over the cap.
As soon as the insurance companies got involved, that sort of property owner pulled the " I've got all my business and rental properties insured with you - and I'll pull it if you don't give me what i want" card....And as that's how one social strata of Chch has always worked, those properties got fixed first.
On one of my routes into town, I go past a magnificent new all weather surface set of tennis courts...privately owned I believe. As Ellipsis said, not far away, houses still being lived in, buggered.

Rates..,.HA bloody ha...those property owners have lobbied to keep their rates increases lower than average....

But Ellipsis knew this anyway, he was just testing to see what sort of response would come from out of ChCh. After all, the standard response from the NI generally has been "harden up" i know several people here who pray daily for a major quake in Auckland or Wellington. And the PM today saying some problems are to all intents unsolvable doesn't indicate much good intent there...
For a current look at how things are not working, I believe TV3 tonight at 7.00pm will be worth watching.

Phew, that's a bit harsh, glad I don't live in Auckland or Wellington, what are these "Christians" asking god to do with Tauranga & outlying areas? Im getting a bit twitchy about the attitude of Christians, I must say. Hopefully god only listens to the good ones who wish well on others.
Although I did remark when I was in Vanuatu 18 months ago "this place needs a Cyclone to tidy it up a bit"

Sooooo - you say BS initially and then you go on and prove my point:

"I've got all my business and rental properties insured with you - and I'll pull it if you don't give me what i want" card....And as that's how one social strata of Chch has always worked, those properties got fixed first.
