Gloves and boots I rate right up there as essential protection in an (unfortunate) situation on a bike - from an experiential learning point of view!

Yesterday, while walking into town, I was passed by a scooter rider wearing shorts, a fluruo safety vest, a helmet and nothing else !!! (bare feet even ..)

He was followed shortly by a Harley rider in work boots, shorts, a T-shirt and helmet .. adn nothing else !!!

Yeah but if you want to promote motorcycling as a convenient form of transport then you won't get much uptake if you expect them to atgatt every single time they ride the bike. Soon becomes tedious.
