No, it's because dickheads crash, regardless of what they are wearing.

I ride in jeans and trainers. Almost always. Lick my dick the fucken lit of ya. Often test ride bikes with whatever I wore to work on it, and helmet.
Why will riders who wear ATGATT still have their kneecaps and toes attached after a minor scape or get off?.

    Unlike our mate Drew here.

    Go fuck yourselves.

The reality is that most of us posting can't ride for fucken shit. If we were better riders, we would lower the number of injuries far more effectively than what you perceive as appropriate fucken shoes.

Ahh, so if you're a good enough rider you won't get injured. Thanks for clearing that up.

And if you really rate yourself you don't have to wear more than the law requires.
Don't you look at my accountant.

I didn't say that. But read into it what you will.

That's the plan. Might not happen but trying my best to stay upright. On the flipside, if you think that it's inevitable that you are going to crash then you would be better off on four wheels with a cage around you. ATGATT proponents seem to ignore this logical end point when they start banging on about putting in a back protector to go and get the milk.

Everything is a risk, and no `accident` is inevidible, but risk mitigation involves making the risks acceptable to oneself. For some, ego seems to be their shield.

Yeah - exactly. I've walked away (well limped away occassionaly) from somthing like 11 offs .. and I still have everything in place (well ... maybe not my brain .. but who cares about that .. unnecessary weight ... )

YES !!! But then how do you account for the expert riders at MotoGP level who fall off ??

I rate myself at least above average - it's the other shitheads (who have taken me out in the past) that I don't rate ... You never know when the shit is going to go down .. so ATGATT and I'm still here, still in one piece .. after more than 40 years riding ..

Anyone who has yet to experience a serious off, will be surprised at how much their brain can think about and rationalise between the oh-shit and ouch moments!

There is a lot to process but the time is extraordinarily long and if you live through the next turbulent phase you will appreciate safety gear for what it is really worth!

This has been copied from the curriculum at the "School of hard knocks" - a place of learning for busy people on the go! -
