    Accommodation HELP please

Hi - I am in New Plymouth.

In July we take all of our staff away for a weekend we stay overnight on the Saturday, approx. 55 people go. This is my first time organising this so want to build on what has gone before. Staff do not know where they are going until they get there.

I am looking for something more than just staying in a hotel in Taupo / Palmy / Hamilton etc. It needs to be something a bit different that will add some excitement to the weekend. Kids camp type places are out if we have to take our own bedding.

(Previous trips have included the Chateau, Waitomo, overnight bus to Auckland and then a night on Waiheke etc).

We will travel in a bus so maybe 4 to 5 hours travel, so within an area as far North as Hamilton, East to Taupo and South to Palmy.

So what can you suggest for somewhere to stay?

(Remember it has to be able to handle around 55 people so places like Whangamomona Hotel are out and I am happy to organise caterers / alcohol etc if needed)

    Thank you

Sorry Mike, but that pretty much describes Taranaki (plus the abandoned part of Waikato) and there's nothing there, so you're screwed.

Seriously for a moment; the Waikato River Lodge (Reporoa) used to offer full accomodation plus jet boating, shooting, etc.
Don't know if its still happening but.
I may not be as good as I once was, but I'm as good once as I always was.

Looks good but looking at their website they couldn't accommodate our numbers. Thank you

    Just wondering...

is there somewhere in Rotorua that could do accommodation and help arrange various "excitements" for the punters?

Mountain heights lodge, 2km south of national park. Take em all up the crossing, but getting everyone in kit for it could be interesting. Middle of summer its advisable to have wet weather gear and thermalsas the weather around there changes so bloody fast

We took an adventure ride in here with mount motorcycles.
    It was fuckin cool.
I have stayed there more recently when heading south in my van.
The Forge side of it would be a great place to take a work group, at many levels.
Complaining princesses that want 5 star would be best left at home though.
