I'm on my way! (Flying Mouse)

    Hi all,

I'll be emigrating to Auckland in July, we're moving from the UK in the hope of a better life.

I'll be shipping my bike, a 2010 Honda CBF1000 , and I've already decided on the route for my first day out once she lands.

Hope to see a few of you out on the road soon

Compared to the UK Auckland is awesome. Brilliant place if you're into sailing too, probably amongst the best in the world. For bikes, well, there are plenty of roads leading out of it

Good luck with the move =)

Good luck with the move. Auckland has plenty of good roads leading out of it, and overall it's not a bad city compared to many European centres

My wife does, she's my ticket to an NZ visa :-)

I'm looking for a job though as I don't think she'll let me be a man of leisure :-)

To all those saying Auckland is awful, come over to London, see how crowded and depressing and rushed life is here, and spend 90 minutes each way commuting 12 miles to work by public transport or minimum of 60 minutes each way by bike.

I'll take Auckland any day :-D

Yeah Auckland is a nicer city for sure, but don't expect your commute times to be much better

Depends entirely on where you work and where you want to live...

Last position I had involved 15km [about 9 miles] commute and took about 20 - 30 minutes... was quicker on the bike

but was against the traffic flow...

Tis interesting that those who deride Auckland live elsewhere...

For sho, would be lucky to both get jobs in the same area though. Even in Chch my ex had a 20min walk and I had a 45min drive.

Most probably have a really good reason for living elsewhere...
I think I could last a about week in a city like Auckland or Wellington before I went postal and set something on fire unless I was living on a boat there. Waiheke ferry commute would be doable too. Might as well make the most of the water in an area like that.

Anyway, better than London, good life decisions and all that

For a few years most of my work was having to travel across AKL from Sth to West now most of that has gone.
and now they are completeling the SW motorway.

It still wont be enough, so I travel as little as possible.
