That was the same line the British used in WW2 with Rommel. An average general with a few panzers built up to be " The Desert Fox" then whupped by Montgomery who was never the most imaginative general just good at logistics and planning. By beating him looked like the best General ever.

I can see a comparisom here being drawn with New Zealand
BUT New Zealand is quite different. The fact is that, they weren't forced in to accepting vats of Whisky, in exchange for vast quanitities of land. AND I am sure they would have signed the treaty anyway, whether they were drunk out of their skulls or not
