I don't know if that's it - because none of your links open for me - but the Americans on another forum are saying that Trump and his son in law tried planning something military and it failed...and apparently the Navy SEAL widow at the recent speech to the House had lost her husband in that action...

I see also that his appointee to the EPA is following the Trump line on global warning - "it's all a hoax" - and is denying the science.
The question now is whether the Paris accord will fall over - even China is looking to sort out it's pollution, FFS.
I would also assume that places like Canada, Oz and us can expect another wave of US scientist immigrants...
His effect on the US scientific community is very similar to the exodus from Germany prior to WW2.

It has been reported, it has been on radio or TV here and I've seen an article on the guns. I thought they might have been 155mm "Long Toms" but although these look similar they can fire a GPS guided shell some 25 miles.

The papers here will be scared to say too much about him. He has put one news organisation out of business by bankrolling other people's law suits against it.

I had read some local reports but hadn't read anything other than some questions about his "unusual" citizenship process. I had another look but found nowt new.
Years ago the NZ Herald was described as one of the great papers of the Commonwealth. Those days are long gone.

Decades ago now I subscribed to the NBR but it's behind a paywall now. Paywalls are becoming increasingly common and for some time I have been considering which papers/magazines I will subscribe to. So far no NZ publications make the necessarily short list even though I'm aware that local news coverage is a bulwark against corruption. The presence of a reporter at council meetings prevents a lot of dodgy deals taking place. If they go...

Thiel is an interesting guy, he's super bright, and it seems there is a nasty streak. His political motivation remains a mystery. Still, I don't expect to be visiting him in his fall out shelter at Wanaka.

I've seen the NZ Herald described as "Granny Herald" about 20 years ago with its center-right political stance however, since its change of ownership in 1996, it's moved on.
