When McAfee lived in Belize he was pestered to make "donations", pay protection, pay bribes, etc. So as a friendly gesture, the tech-millionaire gave the local govt officials laptop computers as a gift. What they didn't know was that McAfee installed a backdoor on those computers and was recording all the corrupt things they did. When they found out, shit hit the fan.

Hence why they probably tried to frame him for murder. If you watch the 20/20 doco on that alone you'll see McAfee even if he might be a killer is no mug.
