A UK political commentator has possibly hit on the real reason the Greenland purchase was floated.
Obama is scheduled to visit Denmark about 10 days after Trump. Trump fears comparison to Obama - see crowd sizes, lol - so put forward the whole Greenland thing knowing what reaction it'd get. And giving him a reason to cancel the visit...
It's just silly enough to be possible, given the idiot we're talking about.
Thought this was interesting.
The farmers are on their knees but many say they will still vote for Trump. Talk about turkeys voting for Christmas.
It seems the trucking industry is also feeling the pain of Trump's financial genius after most voted for him. If they want to survive they will need to be smarter than the farmers.

Thanks for the heads-up.The locals may not be large in number,
but I'm sure that they can get their flippers together to give
them a warm welcome.
I see both RT and Sputnik websites making the most of it again
this morning:
https://www.rt.com/usa/467004-trump-...sty-greenland/
https://sputniknews.com/us/201908221...nts-resurface/
But in the scheme of things, it's not necessarily to "purchase"
Greenland.
The Danes already realise increased US presence in Greenland
in the future is likely, whether they (or the locals) want it or
not. An earlier article from the Copenhagen Post:
http://cphpost.dk/news/danish-pm-ope...greenland.html
and with Chinese interest in Greenland minerals (plus the Polar
Silk Road leg - and climate change), this is definitely not the
last that we will hear on this topic:
https://www.reuters.com/article/us-c...-idUSKBN1FF0J8
[Edit: A following post mentioned interceptor rockets - yes, I
forgot to mention them as well ]
So I watch this space with interest.
On a personal note:
I have always been interested in Greenland, mainly because my
father was a mining engineer and he lived / worked in southern
Greenland from 1947-1953. He hunted and fished with the local
Inuit people while there, and had lots of good stories to tell.
And why the old chap has sadly passed away, I still have a trove
of old black and white photos and other mementos from that era.
Though it might surprise, Greenland has an interesting history in
its own right. Kim Petersen did a series of 3 articles on the local
independence movement in 2007, and which also contain some
interesting snippets of history:

https://dissidentvoice.org/2007/05/nuclear-tragedy/
https://dissidentvoice.org/2007/05/s...aallit-nunaat/
And I see that he has added a fourth article following the latest
Trump episode:

The TDS in here is out of control.... Its good to be back to keep you lot under control.
As the wizard above me mentions on minerals.....
If you plonkers bothered to pay any attention at all you would see the reason for Trump wanting Greenland is because the Chinese are muscling in there VIA AUSTRALIAN MINING companies (which they have a stake in) to mine the rare minerals that place supposedly has a crap load of. Also the USA already has THULE military base in greenland which controls alot of "space force" type stuff for shuttle launches and that as it is the highest US military base on the globe. Then theres the obvious interceptors for Russian/chinese nuke attack type stuff to cover for.
Anyway some of Trumps statements are hilarious (if you dont have said TDS and can see them for the pure trolling that they are).
Trump is the president they need but dont deserve!

Surely people can see through all this "organge man bad" narrative by now surely??
No those Viking "terrorists" have been naughty....
As they say there's more than one way to skin a cat.
Im betting by or before the end of Trump's (TWO) term's that Greenland and the danes bend the knee. (im not talking selling greenland of course but they will allow him to do whatever it is he was aiming to do in the first place which was not "buy" greenland.)
Hell he will probably get it for free.
This whole thing is straight out of "art of the deal".
You realize this was posted by Trump himself on his own instagram right?

Well, that is a possibility, but it still leaves too much to the whim
of the local population.
Personally, at the risk of being accused of being a "conspiracy
theorist", I think that the US will announce that an underground
(sub-polar?) branch of al Qaeda has just been discovered up in
Greenland.
A small "false flag" incident against US forces will then occur,
and then the US will be compelled to invade in order to restore
law and order. QED.
No messy "coalitions of the unwilling". No United Nations required.
And the cost is absolutely minimal.
Meanwhile, people will have not even noticed the disappearance
of the Jeffrey Epstein saga off the front page of their newspaper.
Let alone the revocation of the Volcker Rule.
So Trump looks toward the heavens and announces he's "the chosen one" and some people still don't get it.
It's hard to see how his "easy to win" trade war will have a happy ending for the US. I've got no idea how bad it's hurting China and likely neither does he. Trump has an election next year if he's allowed to run again - and not removed to the funny farm - China doesn't. If it's a matter of he who blinks first loses, Trump will likely have to blink.
