Withdrawal of US Troops from Syria
Strangely enough, I recall Don having earlier made a campaign pledge to withdraw a portion of US troops "and bring them home".
But Yes, you're factually correct. He did withdraw a small number of US troops from eastern Syria (across the border into northern Iraq), only to then change his mind a month later and reinstate them into Syria. I quote:
"The Trump administration ordered all U.S. forces to withdraw from Kurdish-administered northern Syria in early October ahead of a [planned] Turkish incursion into the region, a controversial move widely seen as a reneging of the U.S.'s alliance with the Syrian Kurds in favour of NATO ally Turkey.
However, the decision was partially reversed by November 2019 as U.S. troops repositioned to eastern Syria, reinforcing their presence in al-Hasakah and Deir ez-Zor provinces with the subordinate mission of securing SDF-controlled oil and gas infrastructure from the ISIL insurgency and the Syrian government.
On 23 November 2019, the head of U.S. Central Command stated there was no "end date" on the U.S. intervention in Syria."

Stop Financial Sanctions and Resume a Normal Trading Relationship
"This benefits Russia as they get to supply the goods".
Are you trying to tell me that there is no benefit to the US at the same time ?
Because, even in these times of US sanctions on Russia, there is still US demand for Russian supplied items like minerals, metals and rocket engines.

Ignoring Putin Completely
Yes, I should have said "ignoring Putin's orders completely" for sake of clarity. But I assumed readers would understand that, since that was the topic of the post.
Why Don should believe Putin more than his own intelligence advisors is obviously interesting. It's probably due to those old KGB mind games that Putin is said to practice.
4.
Ukraine Interference in the US Election
I believe Putin stated in an interview he believed it was Ukrainian
oligarchs (who may have donated money to the Trump opposition):
https://www.zerohedge.com/news/2019-...chs-gave-money
A small distinction, but it highlights the difference between the (actions of a) government of a country and those of its countrymen.
Perhaps important to make the same distinction for Russia as well. Accusing Putin for all the actions of its oligarchs (especially since the Russian oligarchs were active through the 1990's - during the financial pillage of the Russian economy - and Putin did not come into power until year 2000).
5.
Oleg Deripaska
Your BBC article may describe Russian oligarch Oleg Deripaska as "a Putin ally", but not necessarily correct:
https://www.globalresearch.ca/why-th...-putin/5638288
Oleg Deripaska's RUSAL aluminium company was (is) involved with aluminium supply to the US. Don imposed sanctions on RUSAL, only to be forced to reverse his decision barely two weeks later (because of the adverse effect of those sanctions on the operation of key US businesses):

Deripaska's relinquishing majority control of the three metals companies may well have been contributory.
6.
Paul Manafort
If we just go by the details in the following Wikipedia, there's more than enough evidence of the actual criminal charges for which he was convicted.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trials_of_Paul_Manafort
Personally, I'm not interested in Manafort or any of the other political advisors and lobbyists who were involved in the US 2016 election. You can discuss and debate them all you wish. Don't wait for me.
But I doubt that we have heard the last of the story about Manafort's alleged Ukrainian involvement:

And as for one reason why Manafort and Deripaska were in contact: Manafort owed him money ($10 million).
