    Distractions

Ah Don, you little trickster. I didn't see that one coming.

Just as the US Covid-related death toll hits 150K and the latest quarterly US GDP figures are released (-32.9%), out comes still another rabbit from the hat ("we have to delay the election because of Covid").

That should keep the "chattering classes" going for another day or two.

I'd take my hat off to you, but then my rabbits might escape.

Trump has certainly generated a reaction, for the first time Republicans have come out against him, including Lindsey Graham and Dick Cheney's daughter. A prominent, hitherto pro Trump law professor Calibresi, has demanded his immediate impeachment and removal.

Pompeo and Barr are backing Trump so the final whistle is some way off.

Trump likes to think he has the support of veterans. Not these ones.

Time to get in some quick corruption before the big eject.

I really hope he does dig in and not accept the landslide defeat heading his way. Seeing federal forces hauling him out on a walk of shame, preferably in handcuffs, is going to be entertainment gold.
Once the dems get full control of the house and senate, Trump better get used to handcuffs. So should invanka, jared, trump jr and very possibly barr.
Will the dems abuse the ultimate power coming their way? Without a doubt.
Will there be an avalanche of far right wing snowflakes? Oh yes there will.
The cupcakes will need to suck it up, because the moment they put Trump in power, this is the inevitable conclusion. Hope you far right wing provocateurs enjoyed it while it lasted, because for you, winter is coming, and it will be a very long and dark one.

I'll preface this comment by saying - I have no opinion on whether Trump will or won't (or even deserves to) win this election.

But you better hope that he doesn't.

Because if he does, you are going to end up looking too stupid for words.

And fair enough, and I would own it. My sparodic squabbles with bonez already make me look pretty stupid, as do yours with Husa.

I know the Trump supporters point to the polls in 2016 as getting it wrong. The difference here in 2020 is that unlike in 2016 where the polls were like a roller coaster, sometimes from day to day, this year they are very stable with Trump losing ever more points to Biden with each one.

Regardless of who wins the election, America's political system is increasingly being seen for the complete farce it has become.

And Biden's not likely to change that.

And i agree with that too.
Once the dems are in i will be commenting on their bullshit just as i do Trumps.
Just not as regularly, as with Trump it was drama every day.

Some of the US legal podcasts I listen to have concerns about the precedents being established under Trump. He has moved things on in the courts in a negative way and there's no going back. The new precedents set are now the standard and will be applied in future court cases.

The US political system worked on a system of trust, the assumption was that people wouldn't want to look bad. Some presidents pushed the boundaries. Trump has completely ignored them.

Because of the pandemic postal voting would be a safer option. Trump recently replaced the Postmaster General with a big donor to his campaign. Postal deliveries have slowed dramatically and staff are reporting that there have been instructions to slow down further. Partly presumably to manage the votes in the election, and partly to justify selling the postal service off.

Tough on people who get medication through the mail. It must have been a big donation though because the new Postmaster General's wife is to be ambassador to Canada.

The staff who work at polling places tend to be senior citizens. People in this at risk group are reluctant to make themselves available during a pandemic. The Democrats need to be awake, it has already been suggested that there be less polling places and it's not hard to guess where they'll be.

One thing the greatest nation on earth can't do is hold an honest election. They really do need UN observers.
