Apparently five members of Van Drew’s staff are quitting because of him changing party. That’s pretty staunch, joining the unemployed on a matter of principle.

Trump did not expect to win, insiders say. It was a joke, a laugh for him - then he won .. joke's on the USA.

    Now we have this ..

Given the Nixon scenario (Nixon resigned, remember, in the face of overwhelming evidence that meant he would have been impeached) Trump supporters say none of it is impeachable ..

    A deep level of stupidity

I think you'll find that goes both ways lol. And for the record I trust no politicians and have no interest in this 'debate' with the exception of observing the justifications each side has as to why their beliefs are the only right ones.

These examples and yours above perfectly illustrate how the general public have very little idea and that politics at their level is simply a popularity contest.

That's one way of summing up the nature of the problem. The qualities required to win the candidacy, then the election, bear no relevance to the qualities required to be a president.

Getting elected is in the nature of a popularity contest, the presidency is more like being a chairman of the board. In the US, of course, the chairman gets to select his board. Hopefully the person who wins the presidency is a quick learner.

I think that more reflects how lacking in basic intelligence the average US voter is.

To be fair the British voters are looking rather dim at the moment too. Although some people do think there is a common denominator.

There would also seem to be some hereabout who think the Kiwi voters fucked up too, but they'd need to come up with a different explanation.

Luckily our ones are faily bland and vanilla, MMP does that, of the current big two, one is slightly left, one slightly right, nothing really radical.
The most right wing government of the last 50 years was actually labour 84 imo

Hold up mate, I'm a very stable genius - and there is nothing unusual about me feeling the need to state that "fact".

Your posts here tend to suggest otherwise. Just an observation.
