The local TV News reporting on Trump's efforts to start a trade war is less than clear. The list of items countries slap tariffs on in reply at first appears rather random, chocolate and Harleys etc etc. Actually it's far from random. China, and now Canada, have been very specific in the products they have targeted. The items tend to originate from parts of the USA where Trump was elected by a narrow margin, or that are home base to prominent politicians who support Trump.
A prominent Russian chess player says that Putin's first wish was for sacntions to be lifted. Flynn fucked that up. Putin's second choice was for the US to have a trade war with Europe. Trump is following orders.

The whole plastic bag thing amuses me, it is just as much the customers who took the bags home and use them for rubbish bags etc as it is the retailers, but you never hear people offering to pay to clean them up like they expect the retailers to.
