Not surprising given Trump tried to buy the exclusive use of a promising German anti viral drug.

The sharing info with China thing is actually funny as you'd wonder how little Barr knows. The CDC used to have quite a paid staff in China keeping track of any new viruses which appeared.
They of course have been cut by this administration.

Trump's taking quite a gamble. Will the loss of life be big enough to make it obvious he made a mistake - or will prioritising the economy over people make his base happy ?

Watching, you'd have to wonder how long the two experts standing beside him can take it before they walk - or get fired.

Nice explanation in many ways, although blaming Trump kinda almost nearly takes the shine off that. They have 4 weeks to come up with more money. Well, despite the protests of some, the US CARES (Covid 19 Relief) bill has been quickly passed into law within the past two days:

Despite one or two US representatives voting it down (in the House of Reps and Senate), the two parties were suitably well organised to ensure that there was sufficient physical presence still ready and able to vote it in.

No doubt, there will have been a few "sounds of relief" when it was finally passed.

No - not from the average citizen and their families, promised the princely one-off sum of $1,200 (to be received some time within the next few weeks), but instead from the various business sector groups.

Small to medium businesses - who employ the majority of the US work force - will no doubt be grateful for some financial assistance.

Certain large industry groups - such as cruise lines, airlines, retail and hotel - have been granted financial assistance.

But yet again, it's the financial institutions that will receive by far the "lions share" of the largesse being created and allocated. And their portion is not restricted to the $450 billion amount specified (i.e. instead up-to 4 trillion dollars, due to the power of leveraging).

It appears that the Repo process - that was in progress since September 2019 - was not sufficient to do the job, so the Covid 19 Relief Act is being used as the vehicle to achieve the desired outcome.

- The US Treasury (ultimately the US tax payer) - and not the Fed -is responsible for under-writing the up-to four trillion dollar amount. Why not the Fed ? Because while the Fed's banks could do so, they don't want to accept the credit risk.

- There is an amendment to the Sunshine Act - Essentially to help suppress FOIA (Freedom of Information Act) requests aimed at finding out which industries were the recipients of either loans or grants (applicable for the duration of the Covid 19 emergency). So much for transparency.

Did the average US citizen just get shafted by their politicians, irrespective of the team involved? You can make up your own mind.
