I was not sure what to call black people here. But after talking to a few... guess what, they like to be referred to as simply "Black".
Following the first candidates' debate some people (notably Trump Jr) questioned Kamala Harris identifying as black. Her parents originated in India and Jamaica so that was not considered black apparently.
It occurrs to me that he difference between an African American and a Jamaican was only a few degrees on a ships compass a couple of hundred years ago.
In the current instance though "women of color" was probably accurate as the four of them vary considerably in hue.
Ocean,
Yeah. I would associate the phrase, "little monkey" with a mischievous child. In the US it's used very differently.
Like the word 'thug'. When you see or hear that word used the subject always seems to be black. Thug is the new N word?
